For 3dsMax versions 9 and newer, this little script can save big time. Use it to select polygons based on their area. You can set high and low limits and select everything in between. The script can be set to interactive mode where the selection changes as you adjust parameters, or a manual mode if you don't want instant feedback. You can also use the Named Selection Sets and the Manage Selection Sets tools built into Max to create very complicated selection sets in very little time.

To install the script, go to the MaxScript menu (within 3dsMax) and choose "Run Script" and point it to the .mzp file.
